I was very shy growing up. You would definitely call me an introvert. I had no friends growing up making “ LIFE” very lonely! I prayed for many years for God to help me. In 1987, God answered my prayers. God sent me a very special friend. She is an extrovert and I’m an introvert without God’s help our paths would have never crossed.
We have been friends for 25 years now. We are more than best friends, we are sisters. She was 4 months pregnant when we met and raising a 4-year-old boy. We have been through a lot together over these 25 years. I am second mom to her boys and love them as if they were my boys.
In 2005 we shared an apartment together. That’s when our Luna girl came into our lives. She was 8 weeks old and the cutest puppy you have ever seen. We love her so much. We didn’t have a kitchen table yet and decided to give that space to Luna as her “play room.”Luna was such a good girl. I was “Aunt Linda” and my best friend was “Mommy”. She loved Mitch so much, he was “her boy”. She is a very smart dog. At our apartment building we had 2 parking lots, one in the front and one in the back. My bedroom was facing the courtyard so you could see if someone was coming from either parking lot. Luna would lay on my bed waiting for her “Mommy” to come home. She would look both ways to check if “Mommy” had arrived yet.

We shared our apartment together until 2008 when I decided to move closer to work. I was driving an hour to go back and forth to work. I was very sad to leave my Luna girl but came back often to visit. Luna would actually cry when I came back and would push her head into my leg.
In 2009, my best friend started dating the “man of her dreams” and was married in May 2009. They had known each other for many years. He was very well accepted by everyone including Luna. In November of 2009, they moved to Delray Beach, Florida.
For 22 years, my best friend was always “a hop, skip and jump away”. Now she was over 1300 miles. It was a very sad day when she moved so far away. I didn’t know what I was going to do.
I have not ventured out of Illinois in over 25 years and I now travel to Florida 3 times a year. Luna was also very happy to know that I followed them to Florida. I’m sure she didn’t understand why I came with a suitcase and why it was so long between visits.
Florida was a brand new world for me. I have visited the Everglades, Miami Zoo, Miami Seaquarium, West Palm Beach Zoo, Lion Country Safari, the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach, “Downtown Delray Beach” and “The Ocean”.
The ocean is so breathtaking! My breath is taken away every time I go there. I love the ocean.

I would look forward to my visits to my best friend. I would get to see her and the family and my Luna girl and the gorgeous views of Florida.
In May of 2010, we had 2 new additions to the family. My best friend became a grandma to a beautiful boy named Nolan! The 2nd addition was “Harry” a beautiful British Golden Retriever. Luna needed a playmate. Harry was Cathy’s anniversary present to Lou.
Harry loves his Luna and Luna loves Harry. They made great playmates! We love both of them. Of course, Harry wanted to play more than Luna and Luna would have to tell Harry when enough was enough.

Unfortunately in April 2011, we received the bad news that Luna had T-Cell lymphoma. She went into remission 2 times but cancer won 4 months later. We thought Luna was going to beat the statistics but the Cancer was too aggressive and we lost our precious Luna on August 21, 2011. We were all devastated and still are. Harry was so very depressed without his Luna girl! We have opened a store in honor of our Luna girl and have a “Dedication Page” telling her story and her battle with cancer. You can find her story http://luna-love-of-life-graphic-design-gifts.webs.com/dedication.
Luna and Harry’s vet advised my best friend that she needed to get another puppy as soon as possible or Harry could very well die from a broken heart. Harry has a new sister and her name is Bille. He is very protective of her and loves her very much.

Billie keeps growing and is getting as big as Harry! They are so adorable!
